About Fizz
I have been operating as a freelance consultant since 1996 and have worked in many London boroughs and the South East of England. I have recently moved to the South West, not far from Bristol. I have studied drug and alcohol misuse and I'm qualified to Phd level. Although I specialise in the drug and alcohol field, I also have undertaken projects focussing on mental health and domestic abuse, delivering similar strategic and commissioning objectives.
Typical tasks include needs assessments, strategy development, team & service reviews, development of commissioning strategies, evaluation of alcohol related interventions, service development and specification, service reviews, and successful tendering bids. I work collaboratively with a multitude of partners from Health Trusts, Local Authorities, the Third Sector, the Armed Forces, Universities and Government Departments. Helping them to improve services and performance, develop their workforce and streamline their systems. |
I qualified as a social worker in 1992 at Croydon College and worked in social work until 2003. During this time I benefitted from working with a number of client groups: people with HIV; substance misuse, disabilities and mental health.
In 2000 I gained a Diploma in Drug and Alcohol Studies at the Centre for Drugs and Health Behaviour, Imperial College.
I completed my Msc in Drug use; evidence based policy and intervention at Imperial College in 2005, authoring a research dissertation on the development and implementation of crack house closure legislation.
My Phd with Middlesex University was gained in 2014. The research project was: 'Developing and delivering local level partnership schemes with the alcohol trade: A governmental analysis'.
An article based on the research has now been published in the scientific journal Drugs, Education, Prevention and Policy - Please contact me if you would like a copy.
Since my Phd studies, I have undertaken a number of research projects - some of which are published - see my 'Pubications' page
I currently work part-time as a programme manager in the Addictions and Inclusion directorate of OHID, as part of the Criminal Justice Team, focussing on improving continuity of care for drug and alcohol treatment between prison and community.
